MARATHON, Ont. — The Ontario labour ministry continues to investigate last week's fatal accident at a workplace near Marathon, but won't release details of the orders it has issued to the victim's employer.

A 61-year-old man from the Sudbury area was killed on Aug. 14 after he was pinned by a steel bridge component at a worksite at Angler Creek on Highway 17.

After ministry inspectors visited the accident site, they issued several orders to Belanger Construction.

Asked about the nature of those orders, a ministry spokesperson said Monday that information will not be made available until the investigation is complete.

Speaking generally, Janet Deline said "An order will bring an employer into compliance with the official Health and Safety Act. It can be things like guarding, fall arrest equipment, pretty much everything that's in the Act."
