Lagging loonie gives local retailers reason to be merry about this season

THUNDER BAY – It’s been a very merry shopping season for local businesses.

It seems as though the poor Canadian dollar and a more mild winter have worked in the favour of local shops with The Power Centre, Kitchen Nook and J.B. Evans all saying it's the best shopping season they've seen in a long time.

Owner of JB Evans, Jack Moro says, when the weather cooperates, people are more likely to shop around, and walk from shop to shop.

Although Moro agrees that the weather has improved business, for J.B. Evans, the poor Canadian dollar isn't necessarily a good thing.

All three shops will be open Wednesday and Thursday for last minute shoppers.
