Lakehead event reviews progress on development goals

An event hosted by Lakehead University this week will review Thunder Bay's progress in meeting UN Sustainable Development Goals and hear from community leaders on what gives them hope for positive change.

THUNDER BAY – Lakehead University will host an event putting the spotlight on social issues in Thunder Bay on Wednesday. 

The event, entitled Community Voices and Dialogues for Social Justice, will assess the city's progressing on meeting the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals and feature a number of community leaders on what gives them hope for positive change.

The event is put on in partnership by the university, Diversity Thunder Bay, the City of Thunder Bay, Confederation College, and several other community organizations.

Two panel discussions will be held. The first a presentation of the First Voluntary Local Review Report 2022, an evaluation of Thunder Bay’s progress toward achieving the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. 

The second panel will feature representatives from groups including the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association and Thunder Bay Housing & Homelessness Coalition for a discussion on what is happening in Thunder Bay that gives them hope for positive change.
