THUNDER BAY – Lakehead University is kicking off its International Education Week with a creative writing contest.

On Monday, the university began its International Education Week with an event called "Canada Through My Eyes", which is a creative writing contest giving international students an opportunity to express in their own words what it was like moving to Canada for education.

“We really focus on internationalization efforts on our campus, we want to highlight and celebrate all the cultural diversity among our international student population,” said international student advisor Laura Pudas.

“Events like this are just a way where we can celebrate students and have them share their voices and perspectives and engage not only the university community, but the general community to attend and participate as well.”

Contest entries for the Canada Through My Eyes event will be on display in the Agora and voting will be live all week on the university website.

This is the second year that Lakehead University is participating in International Education Week and to celebrate, Lakehead International will be running several interactive events and presentations to recognize its international student body, promote study abroad opportunities, and highlight internationalization efforts on its campuses.

Lakehead University celebrates International Education Week from Nov. 15 to 19.
