OSHAWA, Ont. – A furious third period wasn’t enough to earn the Lakehead Thunderwolves a third-straight win.

The OUA men’s hockey team only managed to put a single puck past University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks goaltender Tyson Teichmann on Friday night and went down to a 3-1 defeat in their penultimate game before the Christmas break.

The Ridgebacks struck twice in the first, Ben Blasko beating Devin Green five minutes in for the game’s first goal.

Jack Patterson doubled the UOIT lead at the 12:32 mark of the opening period, Josh Carrick adding to the lead midway through the second before Scott Gall connected with his team-leading eighth tally, the goal coming on the power play with 4:40 remaining in regulation.

Green stopped 27 of 30 shots he faced, while Teichmann made 25 saves to earn the win.
