Landlord finds drugs in vacant home

A homeowner found a suspicious package inside the residence while cleaning out a vacant rental property.

THUNDER BAY – A homeowner's discovery of a suspicious package while cleaning a vacant rental property has prompted a police investigation.

Police were called to a home on the south side of the city on the morning of Saturday, June 3 around 9 a.m. 

A large quantity of cocaine was collected by officers, as well as psilocybin which is also known as magic mushrooms. Investigators estimate the street value of the drugs to be more than $140,000.

The investigation continues as officers are looking into who was in the home unlawfully and left behind their illicit products.
