UPDATE: Ware Township home sprayed with bullets

Woman says about five bullets fired into her home late Tuesday afternoon.

Ware Township, Ont. -- A Ware Township woman says her family was the victim of a drive-by shooting at their home.

OPP confirmed a firearm was discharged and that no injuries were sustained in the incident, which took place just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to a Facebook post made by a user named Melissa Start, the incident took her family by surprise.

"I got home from work and somebody on a side by side stopped at the end of our driveway and shot our house full of holes (around 5ish), took out windows, just missed me as I was walking towards the window to see who had stopped by when I heard the noise," she writes on the social media platform.

"We are in shock."

The woman then goes on to say if anyone has information on the side-by-side or its owner, which she said was racing up and down North Road and Jalava Road before heading down a "turkey trail," to contact the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police said the suspect is a lone male operating the side by side in the area of Auto Road and Ware North Road, possibly headed in the direction of One Island Lake.

"We are all very lucky to be unharmed (Physically at least)," she wrote.

Members of the OPP's forensic identification services and the Thunder Bay area crime unit have been called in to help with the investigation. OPP say they believe it was an isolated incident and there is no further concern for public safety.

Members of the public are urged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 should they have any information regarding this incident. Anonymous information can be reported to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477.
