A major cargo shipment that was expected to disrupt traffic along a main Northern Ontario highway has wrapped up much sooner than expected.

A major cargo shipment that was expected to disrupt traffic along a main Northern Ontario highway has wrapped up much sooner than expected.

The three large mill cylinders, which were manufactured in Spain, were being shipped from Thunder Bay's Keefer Terminal to a mine site in the Timmins area.

They left the city Monday morning in a multi-vehicle convoy amid warnings that traffic along Highway 11 would have to be periodically halted to allow safe passage of the oversized loads.

The journey was expected to take until Thursday for the convoy to complete the trip.

But officials with the OPP are reporting that the cargo has safely reached its destination.

The cargo arrived in Timmins shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
