DRYDEN, ON — The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has declared out a 2,800-hectare forest fire in Quetico Provincial Park.
The lightning-caused blaze was the last remaining fire in the ministry's northwest region.
It was first reported on July 29.
The MNRF elected to keep the blaze under observation to help regenerate the forest rather than mount an active suppression effort.
It necessitated some access restrictions for backcountry travellers in the park, which were only rescinded in recent weeks.
