THUNDER BAY – A legal matter between a former city police constable and the local police service has come to an end.

Thunder Bay Police Service Monday afternoon issued a media statement confirming that legal issues between Const. Toni Grann and the police force had been resolved.

Grann decided not to pursue the lawsuit, which involved the Thunder Bay Police Services Board, Insp. Sylvie Hauth, Insp. Philip Levesque, Staff-Sgt. Susan Kaucharik and former Chief Bob Herman.

The Police Service Act charges against Grann have been withdrawn.

The Thunder Bay Police Service is satisfied that due to a disabling illness she will not be able to return to work for the police service in any capacity.

Grann is said to have agreed with that assessment.

Grann was found not guilty in 2012 after facing 11 counts of breach of trust in connection with her time as a Constable responsible for the Sex Offender Registrar and Administrator.

The judge concluded that none of the charges Grann faced were criminal in matter, and not appropriate for the criminal courts.
