The cargo coming into the local port continues to lag behind totals recorded last year.
Statistics recently released by the Thunder Bay Port Authority shows the local harbour saw 720,000 tonnes came through in September, which is down from the 950,000 tonnes recorded in September 2012.
A reduction in the amount of grain coming in appears to be the main reason behind the smaller totals.
Overall for 2013 the port has recorded about 3.1 million tonnes of grain coming in, down from the 4 million reported last year.
Officials say they remain hopeful that things will improve before the shipping year comes to an end.
