LHIN names three new board members

Beatrice Metzler, Cindy Jarvela and Dorothy Piccinin awarded three-year terms.

THUNDER BAY – The North West Local Health Integration network has appointed three new members to its board of directors.

Dorothy Piccinin, Beatrice Metzler and Cindy Jarvela were named on March 1 by the Public Appointments Secretariat by an order-in-council.

Metzler is a former public school board trustee who also served on the Thunder Bay District Board of Health, a position she held for eight years.

Piccinin, who has lived in Thunder Bay since 1969 and worked as a faculty member at Confederation College for the next 36 years.

Jarvela spent more than 35 years in health care and administration, first as a registered nurse and later as the administrator of a long-term care home and supportive housing program.

Gil Labine, chair of the North West LHIN board of directors, said all three appointees are welcome additions.

“Their unique insight and expertise will be invaluable as the North West LHIN moves forward with implementation of Patients First and the Health Services Blueprint, while continuing to serve the people of Northwestern Ontario,” Labine said in a release issued on Friday by the LHIN.

“We look forward to working with Beatrice, Cindy and Dorothy in advancing an integrated health-care system in our region.”

Each appointment are three-year terms.
