THUNDER BAY -- Effective immediately, all branches of the Thunder Bay Public Library have been closed, after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

While the case was considered low risk and TBPL was advised to have staff self-monitor for symptoms and self isolate if experiencing them, adminstration decided the best course of action was to shut down.

"Out of an abundance of cautions for the health of library staff, and ultimately the public as well, the managment team has decided to close libraries and discontinue returns and no-contact hold pick up until all staff can be tested for COVID-19," a release issued by TBPL on Tuesday night reads.

"Once all results have been reported, the Waverley and Mary J.L. Black libraries will reopen for no-contact holds, pick ups and returns."

Thunder Bay Public Library has been slowly working its way back to full service, after closing for months because of the coronavirus threat.
