The Thunder Bay Public Library is reaching out to help book lovers learn how to use new technology.
The library has received a grant for a new Personal Technology Assistant this summer. Jeff Andrew-Cotter was hired to help readers with their e-books, smart phones, tablets.
With technology advancing at such a rapid pace, it's not always easy to keep up. But Andrew-Cotter says he can help, and says his favorite part of the job is working with people.
Tablets and e-books are becoming more affordable, which makes them popular gifts. And with the demand for this type of technology increasing, the library now offers the option of downloading books onto these devices for two-week periods.
Acting Chief Librarian Barb Philp says it is essential to assist the community in learning to use this new alternative to books.
Andrew-Cotter will be at all four branches on different days to teach users how to set up their library account, download the app, browse the collection and download books onto their devices.
Those interested can visit the Thunder Bay Public library website for more information or to book a specific appointment time.
