Live on the Waterfront back live on the waterfront

Maestro Fresh Wes and Bran Van 3000 among the artists featured on this year's lineup.

THUNDER BAY - Live music is returning to the Marina as the 2022 Live on the Waterfront concert series returns from its pandemic-long stint as a virtual and then a hybrid-style event held in downtown Port Arthur.

Among the headliners are pioneering Canadian rapper Maestro Fresh Wes and Bran Vam 3000, best known for their Juno-nominated song Drinking in LA.

"We're excited about in-person events this year, having missed gathering together on Wednesday nights at Marina Park for the past two years. The exciting 2022 lineup includes amazing acts and provides an opportunity to showcase our local talent," said Louisa Costanzo, Cultural Development & Events Supervisor. "We look forward to seeing everyone at Marina Park every Wednesday this summer."

In the first year of the pandemic, the event was virtual only, and in 2021, the hybrid-style event saw the live performances filmed from the top floor of the downtown waterfront parkade and broadcast for viewing on electronic devices or at Boomer's Drive-in in Murillo with only 25 tickets available to attend in-person.

"The hybrid style was great because of being able to be together and listening to music, it really just made my heart swell," said Costanzo. "But this is what we really love, like being back with people and having the community come together."

The talent presented at Live on the Waterfront will once again feature many music genres including jazz, hip hop, country, and more, and will also feature new and returning local favourites and Juno Award-winning headliners.

In addition to the music, many local food vendors, artisans, and community groups will be on-site and the summer performance series will end with a bang on Aug. 31, with a fireworks display following the last performance.

Live on the Waterfront runs every Wednesday from July 13 through August from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit thunderbay.ca/liveonthewaterfront
