Local businessman dealt hefty fine for missing tax returns

A Thunder Bay businessman has been hit with a hefty fine for failing to file both personal and corporate income tax returns.

A Thunder Bay businessman has been hit with a hefty fine for failing to file both personal and corporate income tax returns. 

According to the Canada Revenue Agency, Pasquale Stilla pleaded guilty to failing to file his personal returns in 2007 and 2008. 

He also pleaded guilty to 16 other counts of failing to file corporate returns between 2003 and 2008 for businesses he ran that include Central Spring, The Spring People and G. Stilla and Sons Trucking. 

He's been fined $3,000 on each count for a total of $54,000. 

Stilla also faced an Oct. 8 deadline to file all outstanding returns.
