THUNDER BAY -- The crisis in Aleppo, Syria remains a dire and tragic situation.

A local church is looking to raise awareness and support for the people in the war zone.

St. Paul's Anglican Church will be tolling the bell for four minutes every day at 5 p.m. until United Nations Day on Oct. 24.

According to Archdeacon Deborah Kraft this serves as a reminder of all those who have lost their lives in the conflict.

“The toll is done at funerals as a sign of respect for the people,” Kraft said.

“We didn’t start this initiative, it is being done at hundreds of churches, and it’s spreading all around the world.”

Kraft is hoping that other churches in Thunder Bay will join them before this coming Monday.
