THUNDER BAY -- A Thunder Bay man has been fined and given a fishing suspension for disregarding Ontario’s fishing regulations.
Michael Zygmunt pleaded guilty and was fined $600 for angling with more than the permitted number of lines. He also received a six-month fishing suspension.
Court heard that on April 12, 2018, conservation officers were conducting a sport-fish enforcement patrol on Shebandowan Lake, west of Thunder Bay. Officers contacted Zygmunt while he was ice fishing for walleye and determined that he was using an extra line, contrary to the Ontario Fishery Regulations.
During the inspection, officers determined that Zygmunt had been charged for the same offence at the same location one month earlier.
Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbon heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 1 in Thunder Bay.
