THUNDER BAY – A local group representing Muslims in this community have taken to Twitter to officially condemn the Paris attacks.
Shortly after the Friday evening attacks the Twitter account belonging to the Muslim Cultural Institute published its condemnation for the attacks in a written statement.
“We are distressed to learn that politically-motivated extremism fueled this attack and justified its deed in the name of our faith,” the statement reads.
“Islam condemns all forms of barbarity, murder, and attacks on innocent people. Muslims have, do, and will continue to condemn these and other forms of terrorism that use Islam to justify violence.”
The statement goes on to offer condolences for the victims of the attack.
