THUNDER BAY -- The federal parole office in Thunder Bay will be moving next year from the downtown North core to the south.
The office is currently located inside the federal government building at the corner of Court and Lincoln Streets. It was set up in 1988 to supervise federal offenders on conditional release from custody. It employs six staffers, who are currently supervising 42 federal offenders.
The office will be relocated to the federal government building at 130 Syndicate Avenue. Officials say the new site is an appropriate distance from schools, playgrounds and daycares.
Residents and businesses in the area have already received letters, informing them of the move. Any feedback can be directed to the local parole office supervisor.
