THUNDER BAY -- Grade 7 and 8 students at Bishop Gallagher School joined children from around the world Friday for "the Hour of Code."
It's a one hour activity designed to help students learn how to code computer programs. Students of all ages were able to choose from a variety of self- guided tutorials, anything from Disney's Frozen to Star Wars. Using code, the students created different movements and elements in the games.
The program involves reading and math skills, but it is simple enough to build confidence and encourage students to progress to the next level. Grade 8 teacher Jeff Blieske said learning about computer science at a young age is very important.
