The area jobless rate rose nearly a per cent in February, recently released data shows.
Numbers released by Statistics Canada shows that the unemployment rate for the Thunder Bay area rose to 5.9 per cent in February, which is up from the five per cent recorded in January.
That’s still well below the provincial average of 7.7 per cent. In Ontario, only Hamilton and Guelph have lower rates of unemployment than Thunder Bay.
The national jobless rate held steady at seven per cent in February.
