THUNDER BAY -- A significant rainfall, which could lead to melting snow, could make for a soggy weekend in Thunder Bay.
Environment Canada, which on Thursday announced a special weather statement for the city, says between 30 millimetres and 50 millimetres of rain is expected to begin on Friday afternoon and continuing into Saturday evening.
A Colorado low is to blame for the rainfall, which could plague large swaths of Northwestern Ontario. Higher amounts are possible, especially near the Minnesota border due to isolated thunderstorms and the frozen ground has made it tough for the Earth to absorb the excess water.
