THUNDER BAY – While several Northern Ontario Lowe’s locations are slated for closure, Thunder Bay’s outlet will remain open.

The company on Monday announced it will shutter 51 Lowe’s and Rona stores across North America, including 31 in Canada.

Sault Ste. Marie will lose both its Lowe’s and Rona locations, while Sudbury is losing its Rona outlet.

Lowe’s, which purchased Rona a little over a year ago, is also closing Rona stores in Mississauga, Peterborough, Kingston and North York.

In total, the company is closing 27 under-performing Rona stores and four Lowe’s locations and blamed lagging sales for the decision.

Lowe’s last month opened a second store in Windsor, Ont.
