THUNDER BAY — Showcasing some of its exceptional research, Lakehead University will host the annual Research and Innovation Week from Feb. 24 to March 1.

Lakehead's vice-president of research and innovation, Andrew Dean, described how the week will show off what the school is doing behind closed doors.

"It's a chance for staff and students to see what other departments are doing, as well as the public."

The launch is happening at Goods and Co. on Saturday.

"I think there's about 20 booths that will be set up, and then the idea is that people have a chance to win prizes. There's an opportunity to meet Wolfy, who's going to be there.

"I think families and kids will find it really fun to be at. There's a passport that you use and a bingo marker at every booth that you go to. If you visit enough booths, you get to put your passport into a draw and win some prizes at the end."

There are several events scheduled for next week, including talks about artificial intelligence, a concert series and a guided art tour.

The opening ceremonies will occur on Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. in the university's Agora.

Some events require pre-registration, but attending them is free.
