THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves 2021-22 roster is starting to shape up.

The OUA men's basketball team on Friday announced 6-foot-8 Toronto forward Ryan Brooks has agreed to play for the team this season, spending the 2019-20 campaign at Hill Junior College in Texas.

Ranked the 47th best player in the country in 2019 coming out of high school, Brooks called Lakehead a great fit on and off the court.

"I chose Lakehead because I liked the environment, the guys who are on the team and the coaching staff," Brooks said in a release issued by the school.

"I want to win at the highest level and I think that at Lakehead we can do that together."

Thunderwolves coach Ryan Thomson said he's hopeful the addition of Brooks will help the team maintain its top 10 standing from 2019-20.

"Ryan is a great kid who will make an immediate impact on the program, with his size, physicality and effort level. He can impact the game with his passing, his finishing and his ability to rebound the ball. We'll be looking for Ryan to attack the rim and really punish switches," Thomson said. "We're excited to get on the court and help Ryan continue to improve as a player."

Brooks averaged 2.6 points and 1.7 points rebounds coming off the bench last season for Hill College in 2019-20.
