THUNDER BAY -- Lakehead University is showcasing its finest advancements in science and research.
The university held an opening ceremony Friday for Research and Innovation Week, where many interactive presentations will show off the school's newest technology.
The launch took place in the Agora, where dozens joined in to get a sneak preview of what events will take place throughout the week.
The week's theme is "Connections", as a way to connect the community and the faculty's research department.
The exhibits will include drones, virtual reality simulators and Paleo artifacts and research from their Anthropology division.
Andrew Dean, Lakehead’s vice-president of Research and Innovation, feels the university is always at the forefront of innovation.
“We have a very good history of linking our research to the region, but Lakehead has a real strong tradition of cunning edge research and having that research on a global level as well,” Dean said.
The event runs until March 9. Visit lakeheadu.ca/ri for more information.
