Lulu hoped she’d be barking up the right adoption tree Saturday.
Two months ago, the 12-week-old husky-mix came into the care of local rescue organization Northern Critters in Need with her mother and three other siblings.
After two months Lulu is the only pup left looking for a place to call home.
She was given the opportunity Saturday to flaunt her bright blue eyes to hundreds of dog lovers at Waverly Park in hopes of being adopted at the second annual Woofstock festival.
“It’s important to speak for those who can’t speak for themselves,” said organizer Cathy Precosky.
This year, the one-day event featured eight rescue services who had booths set up for people to obtain information and possibly meet some furry friends who were up for adoption.
The goal is to raise funds and awareness for local and regional animal rescue organizations.
The event raised about $5,000 last year and organizers hoped to surpass that number this year.
“All proceeds from the event go toward helping the rescues with everything from medical needs to food and shelter,” Precosky said.
She added that all the dogs who came to last year’s event found a home.
