Magic!, Kardinal Offishall to headline ONtour concert in Thunder Bay

Magic!, Kardinal Offishall and Midnight Shine to play Live on the Waterfront on Aug. 9 as part of ONTour concert series.

THUNDER BAY –  Magic! and Kardinal Offishall are coming to Thunder Bay this summer.

The acts, along with Midnight Shine, will take the stage at a special Live on the Waterfront on Aug. 9 as the city's stop on the free ONTour concert series.

The concert series features more than 20 stops across the province in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Ontario.

“Music is magic - able to cross generational, cultural, and linguistic boundaries,” said Eleanor McMahon, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “ONtour is an opportunity for people from all walks of life to share in this communal experience, to build community pride, and to create cherished memories for years to come.”

Magic!, the Toronto-based reggae rock band, skyrocketed to the top of international charts in 2014 with their hit single Rude. Rapper Kardinal Offishall gained international fame after single Dangerous reached the top-five on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2007. Midnight Shine, a Northern Ontario band assembled in 2011 to play their debut show as the opening act for Trooper in Timmins, has gained national exposure over the following six years.

“The ONtour Concert at Live on the Waterfront adds another sensational feature to the best summer events season Thunder Bay has ever seen,” said city cultural development and events supervisor Ash Young. “We are thrilled to be able to partner with ONtour to bring Ontario talent of this caliber to Thunder Bay this summer.”
