THUNDER BAY— The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board is working to get mail out.
The local DSSAB announced last week that it was asking clients to pick up cheques in person, in anticipation of a postal strike.
As mail service continues to operate during the labour negotiation the DSSAB is updating its response.
All vendor cheques for June will be mailed as per usual process.
Cheques issued for Ontario Works in the month of June 2025, will still be available for pick-up at the end of the month.
In Thunder Bay cheques will be avaiable May 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the DSSAB building, 231 May St. South
In the rest of the region, OW cheques can be picked up on May 30 from 9am-3:30pm at the following locations.
Nipigon: 36 First Street, Unit B
Greenstone: Geraldton Office, 423 Main Street, Unit 2.
Schreiber: 204 Alberta Street, Room 137
Marathon: 52 Peninsula Square, Suite 1 (for both Marathon and Manitouwadge clients)
Any cheques that have not been picked up by the end of day on May 30 will be mailed as per usual process.
Anyone with questions regarding the update is advised to speak with their case worker.
The DSSAB will post updates regarding its response to the mail disruption on its website and questions can be directed to (807) 766-2111.
