THUNDER BAY - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a report of a person walking on the harbour ice inside the break-wall.

Multiple units responded once the call came in, at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Friday, including one utilizing an air boat, which was deployed and travelled out to the break-wall to retrieve a lone male who had wandered out onto the ice.

He was returned to shore, where police spoke with the individual.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, in a release issued on Friday night, remind the public that the inner harbour within the break-wall area is under the control of the Port Authority of Thunder Bay and that it is strictly prohibited to walk on the ice without the permission of the Port Authority or the harbour master.
