The mystery of who fell through the ice on Wednesday in the Kam River is a mystery no more. At least not as far as Thunder Bay Police Services is concerned.

The mystery of who fell through the ice on Wednesday in the Kam River is a mystery no more.

At least not as far as Thunder Bay Police Services is concerned.

Police on Friday reported they received a call on Thursday night from a man, who they did not identify, who said he had fallen through the ice near the Mountdale Road boat launch, but managed to get out of the water and safely back to shore.

Police added, in a release, they had checked on the welfare of the individual with family members.

On Thursday emergency crews were dispatched to the river’s edge, where they spent several hours looking for signs of someone in the water, but called off the search, noting tracks leading from a hole in the ice indicated whomever had fallen through had likely gotten out safely.
