THUNDER BAY — A 40-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at officers responding to a disturbance.

Thunder Bay police said officers were called to a home on the 400 block of Amethyst Crescent in the city's Northwood neighbourhood just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said officers learned that a man may have been in possession of a firearm, and there may have been other occupants in the home who were unable to leave.

The man was found with a long gun when officers arrived. Police said the man pointed the firearm at officers in the home, and was eventually arrested without incident.

The accused, whose name was not publicly released by police, is charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and careless storage of a firearm. He appeared in bail court on Tuesday and remains in custody with a future appearance date scheduled.
