Man arrested after smashing store window to steal TV and stereo

Police said the suspect used a concrete block to break the store window, and fled on foot after taking the stolen merchandise.

THUNDER BAY — A 35-year-old faces charges after allegedly smashing through a drug store window to steal a television and stereo.

Thunder Bay police said officers were called to the Shoppers Drug Mart location in the McIntyre Centre on Memorial Avenue just before 4 a.m. Monday morning after receiving reports of a man breaking a window.

Police said the suspect used a concrete block to break the store window, and fled on foot after taking the stolen merchandise.

The suspect was found a short time later on Syndicate Avenue and was taken into custody.

Police said the accused is charged with mischief over $5,000, theft under $5,000, resisting a peace officer, and failure to comply with a probation order.

He appeared in bail court on Monday and remains in custody with a future appearance date scheduled.
