Police arrested and charged a man who allegedly possessed a handgun while at the local casino Wednesday afternoon.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers say they received reports from casino staff around 4 p.m. that a 26-year-old man attended the OLG casino and may have been in possession of a handgun. Police say the man had left the casino and appeared to be concealing the weapon in a pocket.
Officers later arrested a male suspect without incident in the city’s south core just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
The handgun turned out to be a replica, police said.
A search of the suspect turned up two pocketknives, a metal pipe and a razor blade.
The 26-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with possessing a dangerous weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a prohibited weapon.
