THUNDER BAY – City police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a pair of recent convenience store robberies.
In a release issued on Tuesday afternoon, police say the first incident took place on May 27 at about 10:30 p.m. at a Circle K store on May Street North, when the accused allegedly entered the store, approached the counter and demanded money while threatening the clerk with what appeared to be a needle.
Later that night a second incident took place at a Circle K on Simpson Street.
Once again the suspect entered the store, approached the clerk and demanded money, this time allegedly threatening the employee with what appeared to be a screwdriver.
Police say the investigation led them to identify the accused in both incidents and an arrest was made last Friday.
Jonathon William Ford, 40, of Thunder Bay was charged with two counts of robbery with an offensive weapon and non-compliance of a probation order.
The suspect appeared in court on Saturday and was held in custody pending a court appearance on Tuesday.
