THUNDER BAY – A 37-year-old man is facing sexual assault and forcible confinement charges stemming from an October 2015 incident.

Police say a female victim advised them at the time she’d been working in the sex-trade industry when an unknown male picked her up in the area of Simpson Street and Victoria Avenue.

The man drove to an empty parking lot on Simpson Street where an alleged assault took place.

According to a release issued on Thursday by police the victim managed to escape and flag down a passerby for assistance.

The alleged suspect then fled on foot from the scene.

Police, having determined the suspect had been driving a beige SUV, are asking anyone who might have experienced a similar incident or with knowledge of similar incidents to phone police at 684-1200.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 5-foot-7 tall and 210 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
