THUNDER BAY – A 59-year-old man is facing several child pornography charges.
Thunder Bay police on Wednesday revealed a search warrant was executed on Jan. 25 at a Southgate Court residence.
Officers seized 11 computer-related devices, including laptops, USBs and hard drives, which upon further examination were revealed to contain child pornography.
Gary George Somerfield on Tuesday turned himself into police and was charged with making child pornography available and possession of child pornography.
He appeared in court on Wednesday and faces a future court date.
Somerfield is a former teacher with Lakehead Public Schools who retired in March 2014.
