Man arrested on weapons charges in Geraldton

An Aroland First Nation man is facing weapons charges following an incident.

GERALDTON, Ont. – A 42-year-old man is in custody Monday after police respond to a weapons call on Highway 584.

Police received a 911 call on Monday reporting that a male sitting in a vehicle on the side of Highway 584, near Murkey Creek, had pointed a firearm at them as they drove past. The suspect vehicle then left the area heading southbound.

Officers located the vehicle a short time later in Geraldton and took one male into custody. A replica handgun was also located inside the vehicle.

Police charged a 42-year-old Aroland First Nation man with two counts of pointing a firearm, two counts of possession of an imitation weapon for dangerous purpose.

He was scheduled to appear in court Jan. 8.
