THUNDER BAY – One man is in custody after attempting to flee from Dryden Police during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Mary Avenue Thursday around 1:10 p.m. for a Highway Traffic Act related offence.

As the vehicle pulled over the male driver jumped out of the vehicle and began to run from police.

Police say at one point during the foot chase, the accused ran into a residence where the owner let police in, but the accused fled again.

A few minutes later, police arrested the accused near First Street.

Dryden Police arrested and charged a 35-year-old Dryden man with driving while prohibited, flight from police, failing to comply with a recognizance and numerous offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is in custody awaiting a bail hearing Friday in Sioux Lookout.

There were no injuries reported during the incident.
