UPDATED: Man barricaded in home taken into custody

Thunder Bay Police say there was no danger to the public following a man barricading himself in a north side home Saturday morning.

THUNDER BAY - A man who barricaded himself in a north side home has been taken into custody by Thunder Bay Police. 

According to Thunder Bay Police Service spokesman, Chris Adams, police arrived at a home on the 300 block of Cuyler Street at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning following reports of a distraught male. 

A lone male was barricaded in the home for several hours and was taken into custody at approximately 10:40 a.m. 

The 48-year-old man has been transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for assessment. 

An ambulance was on the scene, along with several Thunder Bay Police units and a mobile command centre. Adams said there were no injuries and there was no public safety concern for residents in the area.
