Man brandishes knife after confronted for beating dog: Police

The Thunder Bay Police responded to a weapons call on the city's north side just after 11:30 p.m. on June 7, 2016.

Police received a complaint that a male was striking a dog and when a 19 year old female and a 24 year old male confronted the male, they wear sworn at and threatened with a knife.

The victims left the area and called police before the situation escalated.

Police located the male at near the intersection of River Street and Cumberland Street. He became combative with police while he was being arrested. This behavior continued even at the Balmoral Police station when he spit into the face of an officer.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with Assault with a Weapon x2, Resist Arrest and Assault a Peace Officer. He appeared in court this morning and has been remanded into custody.
