Man charged after early morning drive-thru collision

THUNDER BAY — A local man is facing several charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, following a collision in a drive-thru early Thursday morning. 

Thunder Bay police officers responded to a report of a collision at a business in the 500 block of River Street around 4 a.m. 

A vehicle had struck another vehicle in a drive-thru lane and then drove away before police arrived on scene. 

The vehicle was found nearby and the suspect was unconscious in the driver's seat. 

The investigation also lead to the seizure of a quantity of cash and suspected crack cocaine. 

Officers also noticed signs of impairment. 

A 45-year-old man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop after an accident, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000. 

The accused appeared in court on Thursday and was released with a future court appearance date.
