A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges after the alleged hit and run of a school bus Thursday of last week.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say a driver of a Honda Prelude rear-ended the school bus filled with children while it was stopped at the intersection of Peter and Van Norman Streets.

The driver of the car fled the scene, but police recovered the vehicle a short time later, abandoned in a laneway.

On Monday morning police officials confirmed they had charged a 26-year-old man with careless driving, failing to remain at the scene and driving while suspended.

The driver was not the owner of the vehicle involved in the crash.
