THUNDER BAY — The OPP has charged a 46-year-old man for impaired and dangerous driving on Highway 61 within Thunder Bay on Saturday.
Officers were dispatched to the traffic complaint along Highway 61 at roughly 5:39 a.m., according to a media release issued later in the morning.
After the complaint vehicle was located and a traffic stop initiated, the police determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages, resulting in his arrest and return to the detachment for further tests.
The resident of Wunnumin Lake First Nation has been charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and dangerous operation.
While the police have released the man from custody, he is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay in late June.
The OPP said it is committed to the safety of all who utilize Ontario's roadways and urges the public to report impaired driving by calling 911 in emergency situations.
The police added that complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
