A United States resident has been fined $2,200 for fishing violations.

Bruce Gensmer of Punta Gorda, Florida, pleaded guilty to having an over-limit of walleye and was fined $2,200. He was also given a one-year fishing licence suspension.

Court heard that on June 10, 2016, Gensmer was stopped by Kenora district conservation officers on Cedar Tree Lake, District of Kenora. Gensmer was inspected by the officers and was found to be in possession of his limit of four walleye.  Further investigation revealed, however, that Gensmer had an additional 11 walleye at his cabin on Kakagi (Crow) Lake. The additional 11 walleye had been caught previously on Cedar Tree Lake.

Justice of the Peace Robert McNally heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Kenora, on October 4, 2016.
