Man charged in Sioux Lookout stabbing

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested after another man was found suffering from multiple stab wounds on the morning of New Year's Eve.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – A 28-year-old Sioux Lookout man is behind bars facing a number of charges related to a New Year’s Eve stabbing that left the victim in critical condition.

In a release issued on Tuesday, Ontario Provincial Police say they arrived on scene on Sunday morning at about 8:30 a.m. and found a male victim who had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Several OPP units responded to search for the suspect, who was later taken into custody.

Lanny Makanak, 28, faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failing to comply with a recognizance order and breach of probation.

His latest court date was Tuesday.
