THUNDER BAY — A 55-year-old man has been arrested after paramedics were assaulted trying to give treatment to an unconscious man on a city bus.

The man, upon the arrival of first-responders, became aggressive and allegedly attempted to attack the paramedics as they attempted to awaken him on Saturday.

An off-duty Thunder Bay Police Service officer stopped to assist, before uniformed, on-duty officers arrived.

Police allege the accused also attacked the off-duty officer.

The man was transported to police headquarters and is charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer and resisting a peace officer.

He was remanded into custody with a future appearance date, after appearing Sunday in bail court.
