Man charged with assault after Westfort stabbing

A 61-year-old city man faces an assault charge following a stabbing incident around noon at a Westfort apartment building.

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service were called by a 59-year-old woman who reported she had been stabbed in the leg.

Police describe the wound as minor. The woman was released from hospital after receiving a few stitches.

A suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident and has been charged with assault with a weapon.

The accused will appear for video court Thursday morning.
