THUNDER BAY – City police have charged a 32-year-old Thunder man with assault with a weapon following an incident Tuesday afternoon.
Thunder Bay Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Heron Street following reports of a male threatening another male with a knife on Tuesday, July 30 before 4 p.m.
When police arrived they learned a male who resided in the area was driving into a laneway when he noticed a suspicious male loitering. The man told the suspicious male that if he did not live at the residence then he should leave the laneway.
Police say the suspicious male then pulled out what appeared to be a knife, held it toward the resident and threatened him. The suspicious male then fled the area, heading westbound on Finlayson Street toward McMurray Street.
Officers searched, but could not locate the suspicious male.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect on Thursday, Aug. 1.
The accused was located and arrested without incident in the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 2
He appeared in court Friday morning and was released with a future appearance date.
